The Ask:
Create an IRL stunt to promote the upcoming horror film, Brightburn.
Response:
IGN, partnering with Wildlife, created a unique experience in Los Angeles in the weeks leading up to the film about a young boy with super powers that seems to relish in abilities with increasingly evil deeds.
We transformed a location into a faux research center for children with extraordinary gifts.
We then invited guests to attend under the pretense of getting a tour of the facilities.
On the tour, guests see the film's character, Brandon, being interviewed.
But to Brandon, its an interrogation and soon his powers become apparent to everyone in the building.
All the furniture begins to violently shake. Lights flicker out, and suddenly Brandon is moving at super human speed, throwing researchers against the walls. The tour guide trys to lead the guests out of the chaos, but just as they reach the exit, they are confronted by Brandon who levitates off the ground before lunging at them!
Cue the screams of the guests and the reveal of the stunt!
We had the director of the film watching the guests and was there to greet them afterwards.
We achieved this stunt by working with multiple "Brandon's", having different young actors switching out to make it seem as if he was moving at super human speed.
We were given the actual screen-used Brandon costumes from the film by Sony to ensure the look of the stunt was authentic.
We released the main video across all of IGN platforms, as well as socially tailored content for each platforms many different content formats.
